On Tuesday, while walking home from work I noticed a Hipster plant store (mostly air plants and terrarium stuff) had a Ficus Microcarpa in the window. Now, it was an S curve trunk, with all the growth on the top, but it had a 2" thick trunk and was about 14" tall. Couldn't see a price and the shop was closed. I went back last night and went in to check the price, $120.00. Not great I thought, but I could probably layer several trees out of it, and TWO INCH TRUNK. Impulse took over and I said I'd take it so we walked it up to the cash. Then I noticed that it was actually fused braided trunk; it had a wire scar running up the trunk; and it had a horrible chop scar at the very top. And it was $120.00 and I don't really have room for it.

Turns out they only take cash or credit card, I wanted to pay debit. I said I'd come back later, now I'm not sure if I will.

You could easily buy 5 -6 smaller ones and make your own without the scarring for 1/2 the price here. They grow insanely fast in the Summer and I am certain they would for you as well ;)

Oh yeah, it wasn't even in a bonsai pot, just a plain black acrylic cylinder.
