How to propagate Coast Redwoods?

Likely happen a tad quicker. Spraying the foliage with a fine mist 2x/day ought to help the tree do well and push roots sooner.

Only thought might be to have a larger mass inside the shrink wrap. But the moss on the outer layer ought to solve that issue as long as it stays moist.

I should follow up with a question to those who have had success air layering Coast redwoods- would it help to cut back some of the foliage above to lessen the pressure on any emerging roots below (if this makes any sense)?

Not sure about that.

One of the reasons to mist the foliage as Redwoods seem to have an exceptional ability to bring in water via the foliage. They can even make it rain!
