Hope?/Help for my hornbeam

My old Korean hornbeam which has lived happily with me for 15 years is in trouble. This winter we had a very warm spell and some of its buds extended; temps them fell to 5-10 degrees and the buds withered and dropped.
I was concerned about the soil holding too much water and did a re-pot early this spring. Lots of rotted roots.
Tree is now in an inorganic mix. The remaining buds have never moved even though the branches are green when gently scraped. The buds are green when dissected .
Anything else I might try to help this tree? Thanks, Lynn

Have patience and give it some time. I've seen trees sit like this for over a year before growing again.

I agree, let it be, water only, rain water if possible!
Keep it in more shade than its used to.
