High latency on page changes

I've actually noticed that it got substantially better shortly after posting this...

Makes me feel like when I try to show a bug to a coworker and it just disappears mysteriously 🫨

Heisenbug solved by pointing it out. I noticed this yesterday but it’s (still) fixed now.

I was logged in at the time, will recheck later and confirm
The way ad serving is set up on the site is that you see ads based on your account status. If you are a member, you should only see an ad at the very top and very bottom of the page (on the forums). If you are a non-member (or logged out) you will see one ad per post.

In this way, it is a cheap incentive to create an account :) Also non-members pay for more of the account hosting than the members do.

Thank you, computers are not my thing I cant even figure out where they put the valves in them now days, but it makes sense. The issue seems to be gone. thank you for all you do behind the scenes to keep this community up and running

The site is still relatively slow on mobile - but that is because it is an image heavy site and I allow larger images with lower levels of compression. It is a fine balance - because if I ratchet down image size and quality the site gets much faster, but people start to complain when their uploads start to look blurry/pixelated. On a desktop with a broadband connection the site is quite fast.

Without getting into the specifics, the issues we were having the last few days had to do with some bad actors. Once we tweaked some security protocols, the bad actors went elsewhere. For now. It is a constant battle.

Google ads are still slow... but there is little I can do about that. However with the other issues addressed, the Google ads are not nearly so bothersome.
