Just starting a progression thread on this ginkgo. The Shari was not originally part of the design but an over enthusiastic pup chasing squirrels decided to take off some branches and I was not left with much choice given the extent of the damage.

Regardless, I personally think it has made for a more “interesting” if unconventional tree. This spring in the interest of restricting leaf size I decided to pot it in an experimental pot that I had on hand.

The tasks before me now are to promote ramification (suggestions welcome!) and improve the root flare. Currently in the interest of retaining/promoting surface roots, I have top dressed the surface with local mosses. In the next repot, it will go into a more appropriate pot, and I’ll get a chance to correct the planting angle and the front.

As usual, appreciate any feedback on how to improve my skills and/or the tree.

Ginkgoes are reluctant to ramify, but you should be able to get the ramification to improve a little bit. The roots should be easier to improve. Ginkgoes are tolerant of aggressive root work.
