I know this tree isn't much but I've been keeping my eye on it for years to collect and I see potential in it as a literati. Theres a nice little Shari at the base of the trunk and if I can nurse it back to full strength I think it could be nice in a few years.

What would you invision for this tree?

I would over grow it some and cut it back to get the trunk thicker. I wouldnt let it get too much bigger.

I'm kind of confused by this, how would I grow it out to increase trunk diameter without letting it get too big? Also, if I let this grow wild, the foliage will get to far from the trunk and these rarely backbud on old wood.

oh i mean let it over grow some, then cut her back drastically. basics.

I was thinking something along the lines of this. Then either tilt that apex up or down?

Tilt the apex up if you do that, and wire it so there isn't a 90 degree bend like that.

I see a good tree, but it'll need lots of work.

Something along the lines of this?

Something along the lines of this?
The lower trunk has subtle movement, I would not try to make too many short bends on the top. Better to be consistent.

Thanks for the advice. So keep the main trunk line soft and elegant and follow that through to the apex?

Yeah, I think that could work with this tree, i don’t see a need for Jin on this either

I agree, but how would you go about a dressing the removal of the other branches without having a massive scar?
