7A,
I'm trying to identify what kind of elm this is and whether it can stay outside this winter, or should come inside. I am in 7A/7B. Leaves are changing color and will probably drop, so I was thinking overwintering with protection outside, since it is deciduous. I have a Chinese Elm which I bring inside until next Spring, but not sure about this one.
Thanks for your help!

Zelkova are single toothed on the margin, Chinese elm double.

I share your zone, both can be overwintered outdoors just fine -mulch em in well, good winter protection..Chinese elm more sensitive, bring in if you hit those deep lows commonly

In answer to your other question - zelkovas are cold hardy down to zone 5... very cold indeed! You didn't put your location in your profile, but all deciduous trees benefit from being kept outside because they benefit from the rest associated with dormancy. Be very careful about keeping deciduous trees indoors during the winter - you may kill them with kindness.

I just became a "zone denier".

Zones Shmones.

Thanks to you all, even Sorce!
I agree Zelkova and will overwinter outside.
Chinese Elm is ready inside.
