I accidentally left it out in the pouring rain one night and now 2 days later it is a yellow brown color! What can I do for it?

Was it knocked out of the pot, rcently root-pruned, or shocked by a sudden hard freeze? Those symptoms aren't likely caused by heavy rain.

By "left it out in the pouring rain..." does that mean you don't leave it outside all the time?

I just got it this past fall and it has been kept outside under a covered porch. I left it out in the open in the rain, but I don't think the temperature dropped to freezing. 37* F at the least. I haven't touched the plant or its roots. The needles aren't falling off, just yellow. Thanks for any further replies, this is my favorite tree.

JBP like full sun, all the time.

Maybe upload a picture. Over how many days did it turn yellow. Pine needles usually turn slowly, did you spray it with anything? Perhaps the area you live in sprayed some kind of powerful insecticide it didn't like.... How are your other trees?

This may sound like a stupid question, but did you happen to water it while it was under the porch? Did it get any sun? ...

It was nice weather here in TN on 4/2, so I set it out in the full sun. The porch that it set on all winter is shady. That night is poured the rain and soaked the tree. I left it out on 4/3 all night. It got cold, but not freezing. That is the most water action the tree has seen since I bought it at the end of November. No sprays or anything else was done to the tree or in the area.

I watered it, but very little. I mainly just gave it a small drink every other week. It got some sun. It stayed green fall and winter under there.

Rain water doesn't kill trees. Even acid rain won't kill a pine in one night. It's more likely that it was under watered all winter and just happened to turn yellow after the rain.

The only other solution is someone poured something on your pine like weed killer. Or it suffered from a real hard freeze. Can't think of any other reason your tree would turn yellow overnight....

We're kind of fumbling around in the dark guessing without a photo. Can you load one up? Are candles extending? They should be...

If a frost did hit it, will it come out of it?

Why not upload a pictures of the candles and the needles like Brian suggested. Will at least help a little in regards to telling what may have happened and if it might recover.

I dont have one. Ill upload one in the morning. Im new to this, so do you have a pic of candles extending? Thanks guys for the help. Sorry for so little info.

The pencil is pointed at the spot where this year's candle begins. Minimally, yours should be pushing growth somewhat similar to this.

They aren't doing that. They are pointed and short. They are tan and white. They don't have the green growth at the base.

More like this?

If everything goes right..... They should start to look like the pics BVF showed later this week or early next week. If they don't there is something wrong.

Mountain, your picture confirms what I've been thinking since this thread began. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your tree is dead. Most likely, the tree died months ago, but the foliage only dried out recently. Frost or heavy rain last week did not kill your tree, though.
