Help identify plant type.

Not sure what this is. Think it's a juniper but not sure which variety.

If growing in nature likely Common Juniper. If growing in flower bed could not say.

It's in a friends backyard garden. He just bought the place.

Communis tends to have perfectly round berries with no indentations. But they do have a habit of toppling over under their own weight.

This looks like something other than communis to me.

Does it have scale foliage anywhere? If so, possibly ERC. If not, maybe a needle variety of chinensis like stricta. Hard to say really.

Juniperus hurtmealot, as far as I can tell.

Can make good bonsai and if you are into masochism, this is the plant for you.

I haven't seen ERC with berries like that either.

The top of the one pic looks like blue shore.

Is this one plant or 2?

Couldn't find scale anywhere that's why I was confused. I'm going over there today so I'll take a few more pics. Thanks for all the responses! It is just one plant. The way its growing it looks like a type of ground cover.

ERC that someone has been fighting to a draw. A photo of the whole environment would be instructive.

Here's a few more. Also looks like its ground layered itself in a few spots. It's about 8' wide 9' long and never comes more than 15" off the ground.

Sorry my camera kinda sucks. Looked again over the whole thing and still couldn't find anything other than needle foliage. And usually eastern red cedar makes me itch like crazy and this one hasn't. But I've definitely been wrong before so I guess it could be. And yeah the berry shape was throwing me off as well.

The odds of it having a compact enough root system to collect it are slim and none.

He has a few Japanese maples, magnolia and dogwood I'm planning on air layering this spring so not a total loss. And that juniper has ground layered in a few spots so I might be able to do something with it. And if I cant no biggie. Thanks again everybody for all the help. I really appreciate it!
