HELP - for my monkey thorn

I recently inherited a monkey thorn from a friend. I am worried about it and don’t know where to start. The trunk is still solid but I wonder if it needs more soil above as there are some exposed roots. Also wonder what temperature to keep it in. I live in the middle of the US in Kansas and we have cold winters. It is kept inside but the temp does drop to around 68 f this time a year.

hi. it looks like galpinii (1 of our better cold resistant trees)...
they do not like their roots exposed, so cover up as much as you can...
cut back hard in spring to 3 nodes per branch and leave the roots for a year or 2...
