It also seems to be spreading some kind of white stuff where it landed. Please help me identify what this is! Also, is it dangerous to my delonix? If so, what action should I take?
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much!
Just looked it up - it was def a mealy bug! I removed it and the white waxy stuff. I also read that I should treat the plant with 70% rubbing alcohol by applying or spraying to areas where the mealy bug was. I only saw one. I check my plants more than once a day, so am hoping that I caught it soon enough. Thank you so much for sharing this information with me!!!I can't make it out but the white fuzzy stuff you should be concerned about. Look up Mealy Bugs and see if that matches the critter.
Thank you! Will keep this in mind if I spot another one!!Gently rubbing your finger over these bugs can also be adequate to kill them. The goop is a bit gross to the touch but it’s a very plant-safe and nontoxic approach.
Don't worry, you will.Thank you! Will keep this in mind if I spot another one!!![]()
Ah! Thanks for the helpful info! The plant that had the mealy bug was in a very shaded corner (outside) that does not receive much sunlight throughout the day.sometimes with them its a location thing. I notice they seem to thrive in shady sides of houses, especially with not much airflow, like a inside corner or a west facing side. I have a row of hibiscus at work that get them nonstop on the western side of the building and no sun till about 1 o'clock. Since I started there I have sprayed and sprayed. Sevin and soap, also did Marathon for a bit and that stopped them for a while, but they came back.
