Three years ago I noticed some of my Chinese elms had red fall leaves. I chalked it up to some freak response to one condition or another. However, they have been reliably a deep burgundy for three straight years. I was wondering if anyone else has this fall coloration on them and if it's a certain variety or something... The first shows the color best and second is one but the leaves never fully turned on many of the plants this year so I had to eventually defoliate them to let them rest for a few weeks before bud break but you can see the circled one in the top of the picture

Yeah. They show up occasionally depends on weather temps and sometimes stress

Mine's had a mix. It's usually been yellow to red to purple, although this year was yellow. It was in morning sun all year.

This is from 2022, from under different light patterns. This was under dappled shade all year. I wonder how much that had to do with the difference?
