Hack's Crapes

Just starting a thread here to try to track these, I've got several just have never started any documentation.

The one I worked on today is a Miss Sandra I bought at a big box store, I pulled two trunks apart from one plant, put one in the ground and have been working the other now in the 3rd season. Leaf size has reduced but likely would look better as a slightly larger tree.

This is a Muskogee, I bought a 5 trunk 15gal plant, separated 2 doubles to place in my landscape and kept this one for play. Another that will likely benefit from a couple of years of growth, maybe in the ground. I plan to cut it back to form a nice trunk line this winter.

This is one of those fun puzzles that has so many options it can be overwhelming. My original plan was to cut off the base suckers and the first low branch. After seeing it leaf out the suckers may stay?

It was labeled a pokemoke at the nursery but I had ordered another one online and they have slightly different leaves. It was just chopped down this March for the first time.

A couple other pokemokes/ labeled such anyway. No cutback yet on these wanted to see a couple of flowers...

This one suffered during the last freeze we had. Today I cut back the dead stuff and heavy stuff in the apex. Looking better and better each year. It was repotted this spring.

Our last freeze this year was pretty severe. I had a family emergency that pulled me away quickly without caring for all my plants and this one got bit. I've been watching, waiting, hoping... and it's looking good!

I think this could be a very nice tree. I like the view that you showed above better as the front, though (at least in 2D). It would make for a nice triple trunk if you shortened that intermediate trunk a bit and developed it as another top. Just a thought. Sorry about the crappy virt. Not my forte.

Cool, thanks for the input. I think that's a great idea. I was considering cutting that one completely off but as long as it builds strength through the summer I think I could make that cut and repot next spring at a slightly better angle to pull that off.

I'm glad it made it. I had one that didn't leaf out last year until June. I think they enjoy causing panic.

This one recovered quite well. I cleaned it up today with @misfit11 virt in mind. I cut off a large branch in the apex and think a couple more will go in the spring.

This one finished the season pretty strong, the nebari is starting to look nice

I think with our growing season here the material will develop faster with annual repotting. This one is a full size variety so the miniature may be able to go longer. I had this one sitting on the ground and realized it had rooted last year. Today I couldn't pull it up without cutting the roots first. I'm getting better about tracking, so hopefully I'll update next year and we'll all see?!
