I saw a comment here that mentioned the "grip-n-rip" way to create jins (or an aged look) on a branch last year. It just so happens I had a large snowfall of about 21 inches and it ripped down a number of branches on an arborvorite hedge row at my place (thuluja giant?).
These are all branches that made it through last summer and fully recovered. There is some pretty cool twisting and breaking. I think they will only look cooler as they age.
