First...I didn't want to hijack NiBonsai12's thread
I've done a fair amout of reading on JWP's and their need for the "cold snap" in winter. Of course I purchased this beauty before I did the research.
It's a grafted white pine on JBP stock. I've read and been told to get in the cold in winter.
I've kept it at my mother in law's in Northern Cal for the last two winters...in fact, sadly, the tree's still up there...being taken care of, of course.
I just haven't been able to get back yet this year...thankfully... on one hand
I read Nybonsai12's post on July 10, 2013 (Great tree BTW) recently...it came up that perhaps the fact that if a JWP is grafted on JBP...It might be able to survive here in my zone (9)???
