Got some free 8822

Kind of a fun story.

Yesterday I stopped at my local Napa and asked for a bag of 8822 Floor Dry. The clerk brought me a bag and mentioned it was unusual for a customer to know the part number. I told him I was using it for bonsai soil mix and that got his interest up because his hobby is aquariums. We talked a bit and he thought it was cool that you could use 8822 for bonsai. He asked if I wanted two broken bags that they had in the back! So I got three for the price of one.

He also wanted to know if I had any dead trees (I don't know yet!) because apparently some aquarium folks like to sink dead twisted trees in their aquariums and grow moss on the branches. I'm pretty good at killing trees so I'll keep him in mind. lol

Nice deal.

There is some insane aquascaping done with bonsai "trees".

I have also seen people using akadama in aquariums as a soil substitute for an expensive version of aquatic planting soil.
