Has anybody dealt with storing water in galv. tanks and saw adverse affects on their moss growth as a result( due to probable zinc leaching)? Can zinc cause other problems? I am worried as I see evidence of moss damage and in my research found that zinc leaching water can indeed cause problems.

Wow that sounds like it could be nasty, as moss lives thru almost anything but vinegar. I am wondering if limestone dust can cause any issues myself, as I have some moss that was grown on limestone gravel, rinsed it off super well, but there is always residue. Will be interested in the answers.

What's interesting is what's the primary emphasis, moss or tree. Moss has no (true) roots. Trees have roots plus a casparian strip to "filter" what's absorbed. An aside, Ferrous sulfate at 4-5% is toxic to moss but beneficial to trees and zinc oxide is a supplement to nut trees. It's a big world.
