Seeds which germinated in the spring of 2021. I punched some holes in a Chinese takeout container and stuck the seedlings in there. Note that one of the seedlings is actually a native maple I found in the woods, but for now it can live with the Japanese maples. Also, I realized there wasn't enough space for all of them, so some of the others I stuck at the edge of a large grow-out box for a beech. I'll eventually be moving them to a forest, so it won't hurt for them to start learning to share.

Something dug up the trees. I potted them back into new containers as soon as I noticed, but only two are looking healthy. I might need to plant some more. Fortunately, Japanese maples grow and develop relatively quickly.

Dozens more seeds sprouted this year. These came from a different parent tree than the others but have a similar color and leaf shape.
