Ok, I'm in!
I have this €20 Cotoneaster that I've been neglecting for a couple of years and a lava rock that I found somewhere so why not try to do something with it.
Put the tree/shrub on the rock today. But first I gave it a haircut.
The tree:
Dwayne Johnson, eeermmm.. I mean the rock:
The tree tied to the rock after selecting the roots that are allowed to grow over the rock.
Put some shrinkwrap around the rock so no new hair roots will start growing there and the roots are tightened against the rock.
After putting it in a nursery container it's now allowed to grow freely for the next 2 years (maybe a little pruning here and there to keep the bbranch growth under control)
Judging from all the new growth and flowers I'm guessing it handled the late winter abuse pretty well.
Also removed thewires because they were starting to bite in.
