Fixing chips and cracks

Hey Pot people
I have a really nice Bigei with a small chip in the side of the rim. I can live with it but heard they can be fixed. It's an unglazed but has a coating that is pretty much the same color as the clay but gives it a smoother finish.
Are there certain potters who do this kinda work?

Tim can you post a photo?

I'm not aware of a way to repair the chip. Refiring it could ruin your pot.

Sorry about the delay.

I was told it could be done, just not sure how and who does this sorta thing.
Here's a pic of the chip. It's on the side of the pot on the rim.
Like I said I can totally live with it like it is I really like the pot and got a great deal on it.

I'ld just like to see what options are out there and figured it might be a good resource thread for folks with maybe similar issues.

Tim,

The only chips and cracks that I know of to be fixed are usually done to greenware and bisqueware. The higher the firing temp, the less likelyhood of sucess from any repair (except maybe using epoxy). Once it goes to a glaze firing it gets pretty dicey.

Personally, if it were mine, I would be happy with it and enjoy it's added character; or buy some Gorilla Glue

I love the pot regardless of the crack and hope to have a nice tree in it soon.
Now if I could just stop picking it up with greasy fingers grrrrrrrr.

You can easily translate that into any language at translate.google.com.

In Japan, valuable pots with the inevitable chip are repaired with plaster-of-paris, then gold leaf is applied to the patch. I understand that done well, it's stunning.
