For my recent club show I made this stand somewhat last minute to display some smaller trees. It's 24" x 24" x 10". I used 1/4" birch plywood and slightly thicker maple for edges and uprights. I definitely learned some things along the way. In the quest to keep it very minimal and subtle I made everything a bit too thin. Namely the vertical supports. They had some bow to them from certain angles and I had very little surface area to glue it together.

Overall it was fun to build and just used scraps I had in the shop. I intend to build a more traditional shohin box stand next, not last minute and not so delicate that it falls apart if you sneeze!

It's a nicely designed stand for scraps! I like the lightness the thin uprights and panels give off. Perhaps you could make it more structurally sound if there was also an upright up top and that would help break up the large top section that seems almost too open. I would also try putting the panels at more of an offset to each other, that will make each space more of its own area. Great for a first shot at it!

Thanks! Yes, that's a good point about having more offset to the levels.
