I really like the idea of a root stand for smaller bonsai, especially semi-cascade and exposed root trees. I did some research on YouTube and found a few videos that were helpful. One thing I underestimated was the amount of time it takes to make a root stand. I used a dremel and drill for most of the work. I picked up a nibbler for the dremel on the Bonsai4me website. The wood used was a block of Tupelo from a local wood crafting store.
This video was helpful.

Well done!
Nice job carving, grinding and sanding with a vision of the end result.

Thanks Tieball! I had to walk away from it when I was getting stuck. Start again the next day with a fresh set of eyes.

Fresh eyes. That’s a good approach. Also keeps mistakes and injuries away. The results show mighty fine work.
