I have never seen it, the wood is is soft and pulpy so I think it would be short lived.

Always remember that Picasso had a sound Traditional Painting education and could
already paint along the lines of an Old Master.
However, that was not the way to make money.
Still I am not sure what a ficus would look like with added whitened wood
We do however have a Ficus n., that had the heartwood die out and just the
cambium zone kept on going.
The tree is however building itself back to a round shape, away from the flat slab
that survived.
So one could try that temporary look ?

Doing some "grafting" lol! Yeah!
Anyway....
I was looking at all the exposed Dead bits thinking about how Bullshit it is that "ficus won't hold deadwood", or that it "rots out"..

While you don't see dead wood features in ficus, it is not unusual to see hollows. Uro, Shari on their way to rotting out to a hollow can be seen. Also, strangler fig type ficus will form around a host tree, the host will die, rot away, leaving a hollow behind.

I've got ficus where I've partially hollowed out large pruning scars. It's been 14 yrs and the scars have not healed over and they have not rotted. This for Ficus rubiginosa.

Ive seen quite a few mature old trees with hollows and deadwood features. I certainly don't go out of my way to create them but it can be done. I have a Microcarpa var Hillli with a carved centre trunk that is solid. I leave it natural, no lime sulphur artificial looking shit. These aren't alpine trees, they're supposed to rot.
