Ficus Burt Davyi Progression thread

I was given this ficus Burt davyi as a gift from my older sister this past Christmas. She purchased it from BC bonsai in the suburbs of Chicago. I gave it quite the hack job but now that it’s starting to come back to life, I’ve decided to create a progression thread to show the progress over the past few months. I am newer to bonsai and very open to constructive feedback!

Day it was purchased by my sister a week before Christmas 2024

Here it is a few days after Xmas 2024 after doing the initial styling and giving it a preeetty heavy defoliation/branch removal.

Here it is 2 weeks ago with new budding coming out at almost every internode. Did get a partial die back on the lower left branch.

Here it is tonight, really starting to bounce back and take off with new growth everywhere.

I do not wish to be unkind, but if you want to develop the trunk, you need to put it into a large growing pot and let it grow wild for a few years.

Was purchased in this blue pot although that’s not a bad idea… no hard feelings by any means. Would you recommend keeping the same type of media? I was planning on letting it grow out for a while in this pot just to get it back to full vigor again although I’m sure it would really explode with more leg room.
