Hi,

I was curious how you’d approach fertilizing these trees?? I’ve already bought Monty’s product and poured some of the mix with a water solution into the tall training pot last month but the instructions said to use at least two gallons of water, which I thought was excessive as I didn’t want to drown it.

I have not done any work with the smaller juniper but it does seem to be growing on the right after keeping it watered.

Thank you.

I am unfamiliar with the product you're saying but I would assume it means mix whatever amount it says to 2 gallons of water and then water the trees with it

Not that you need to use the whole 2 gallons per tree

Hey!
Fertilizers are available in a different forms.
Liquid (organic or syntethic), solid (organic or synthetic).
Solid organic fertilizers are more gentle
and have a more gentle breakdown.
It all depends on your purpose: slow growth or pumping up your tree or anything in between.

To much will cause harm, to little will make it weak. Watering is directly related to fertilizing.

NPK values are important. There is a lot off information easily available on the web.
Very much depending on the tree and the developmental phase.

Discussable matter world wide. Trial and error. Something might work for an another but not for you.

To much is always wrong.

Not really a ready to go answer. Research could help your needs.

This is a crop product and there are many different varieties sold on this website. Not sure which you mean.

Looks like there are two junipers and a jade type tree and a cutdown job. You’ll likely be fine with any mild product. Would not recommend the 9-24-3 as it has an awful lot of phosphate in it.

I have the 8-16-8 NPK bottle upon understanding.

Balanced npk values are something to keep in mind unless you you have specific goal.
Nitrogen will speed most things up.
But that can be, but not always is the goal you have.
Seasonal growth habbits come in as well.
For example 10:6:6 in spring. 6:6:6 in summer. 3:6:6 in autumn.

Talking about mature bonsai in this example.
You want more extending growth? use a higher Nitrogen value.

Root growth, flower development, beefing up, holding back, autumn colours and many more things: NPK.

Only fertilizing is a study in it’s own 😅.

If you may please excuse me for giving unwanted advice.
The Jupiper shaped like an elephant’s head is still savable by bending one branch in any other direction.
No harm intended. You could give it a go and be surprised of other future possibilties!

lol. no harm done. though, is that the one you’re referring to in the bigger pot?

Yeah or you could let one branch go completely.
Try to picture it extended and see if that is somekind the shape you want it to be

I definitely like the left one more as it has some more definitive character but for the life of me can’t figure out in what ways the whole tree could potentially grow. I cut it back initially to get access to the trunk with a design in mind but it seems to have fallen by wayside.
