How does this work? Anyone familiar with the process and applications for the funding?

Looks like this is in Australia, so perhaps one of our Aussie friends can chime in?

Thanks. Just noticed that. Still wonder how it works though
The Aussi govt has a grant's program to help community programs. Generally how grants like this work is your club, organization etc has to fit into the criteria for funding. In other words whatever program or project you want to fund fits the criteria set by the granting agency.

Typically your organization has to be a not for profit registered as a 501 (in the U.S) with the government. Also depending on the granting agency, sometimes it can only be used for materials and equipment and not for staff salaries. Sometimes city, county or state programs can also apply, it depends on the granting agency.

Usually there is an annual deadline for applications. Funding is can be for a year or multiple, 3 or 5 and isn't infinite funding.

I suspect this grant is for Australian organizations only, but there might be something in the U.S. from some granting agency or foundation that gives money to community programs.

Usually these kind of grants aren't advertised publicly, because it would make sifting through all the submissions a pain.
But most local legislators know about them.

I once won a grant for a project I only did on paper. Because some local community person submitted it to the EU. I declined it because I wouldn't spend the money so I didn't have the paperwork to show how that money was spent.

I'm willing to bet that even in the US, you'd be able to get EU grants, as long as you pick the words right.
@Bonsai Nut for instance would make a fair chance if he mentions he's bridging the connection between European and American bonsai, while keeping a solid platform for discussion and exchange of ideas about art.

Yeah, Paradox is right. In this case the grants for volunteering so must `assist their volunteers and encourage volunteering`. From my experience, we have quite a lot of grants available. but is usually very dependent on the sector. i.e. if you are in the automation or renewables/green sectors there is a lot more available. Haven't had any experience with community-based grants though but we do have a lot of art-based stuff.
