Far from traditional... what else can I say

My curiosity in the auction platform got the best of me. I couldn't understand the 2D images shared. I knew it was far from traditional.

A direct link to Instagram should allow ones to view it without an account. This thing is crazy! I'm pondering scarification on the base. But a short snippet of video.

Interesting trunk indeed!
Seems to have roots from several places on the trunk. Possibly a couple of seedlings fused or maybe a single trunk twisted wildly that has grown some extra roots from the trunk. I noted that my wired and twisted JM do this regularly, especially when the wire starts to bite into the trunks. Severely twisted seedlings can also end up similar to this where the trunk fuses back onto itself so loops appear and the trunk appears to grow straight out of a knot in the trunk.

I'll certainly be interested to see what you can do with it.

I've had many over the years. Try and persuade me to harshly alter trees I bought because they weren't traditional. To make a proper bonsai. That's...to boring for my taste. I'm more about buying what appeals to me in some quirky way. And evolving it.

But truthfully...the auction on this one had me stumped. 2D images left me more confused than with clarity. I didn't buy it the first time around. It wasn't a long enough established tree I felt. When it came back on the market. Some time had passed...and I felt more comfortable with the purchase. I had to make sense of it. It was forever never going to be a beautiful tree. It was an oddity ..but, I seen scarification from day one. As I find that technique so... artistic. Add in...its deciduous material. It just gets my blood pumping.

It will never be a classical tree. When done... in a few years. I hope I can suck ones attention into trying to follow its lines and admire the scars that will eventually be applied to the trunk. It will never be everyone's cuppa tea. Which I also love about it. I want ...what is hard to recreate. It makes it unique...and ones aren't overly shocked anymore when they see my work. They can see things on my bench when I add them.

NEVER compromise on a style that appeals to you. I find it very interesting with plenty of character............... my two primary goals with bonsai.

My go-to question for people hung up on traditional style is this. "What do like on your hamburger?" They go on to tell me all the ins and outs of condiments and garnishes. I look at them and say "That's wrong. That is not a traditional hamburger." Some look at me like I'm crazy, but some go "Ooooohh, I get it."

Oh my burgers... I don't eat many out. I'm very picky. And I want it sloppy. We have this place we do take out. BOOMIN' BLOOMING BURGER. Flaming hot sauce...that I get additional on the side to make it sloppy. It's got blooming onion on it too. It goes into my air frier...to reheat...I wrap it in aluminum foil...to hold it all together so not to wear the sauce. Lol and lots of napkins...and it drips down your fingers if not careful yet still. Lol had it Friday actually. Delicious! I'm the only one in the family...who can handle that heat it brings.
