This week, I will have to bring my tropical trees inside for a few days. We are supposed to hit 41*C early Friday.

Most of my trees are still growing though (but slowed down).

Hello Dario,

most of the trees down here are not growing, how's that for going dormant -chuckle.
Highs are still in the high 80's, rain is plentiful [ thank heavens ] but evenings to morning are cooler.
Very breezy.
Good Day

Anthony,

It is weird but I forgot how the tree growth cycle is back home (tropical)...always took evergreen broad leaf for granted until I started bonsai actually. LOL :)

About 20 plants temporarily stowed in my dining room for 2-3 days. The dance begins!!! :D

Do you have these trees in and out of your dining room all winter??

Nope. Once they have to really stay inside (around late Nov), they go in the garage. They will stay there about 3 months. I am just lazy to bring them all the way to the garage since they will be out again in just a couple of days anyway. :D

Ah. Is the dining room by the back door?

Just concerned about your very understanding wife and our expanding collections.

Thanks but no worries about her...she is the one who insists I just pile them in one corner of the dining area. I am not fighting that since I aim to please. ;)

Kidding aside, it is difficult to haul plants through couple of doors and through the house going to the garage. Specially big & heavy plants which several of my tropical trees are.

These work GREAT on the cheap 700 pound capacity with pneumatic tires, fits easy through doors and pulls smooth on any surface http://www.homedepot.com/p/Unbrande...i_kw=&ci_gpa=pla&ci_src=17588969#.Un1Mv50o6M8

Thanks, great tool, but not suitable for me though. Steps on the backyard going in, steps in the garage and have to navigate snaking through furniture (not straight shot) will be a nightmare. House is small and my passage way is not for this. :(

We use it in this rather large two story but in the new place everything we need is on the first level with no steps so it will be a huge help. I am kind of sad moving but it just makes sense to have it all on one floor at this point in life. In this place we also have the ability to have a rather large guest suite on the second floor but all things we need are level.

Also - Prayers for you and yours and all you may know and love in the Philippines

This guy has changed my life. No good with steps though.

First hard freeze of 28 expected Tuesday night. About three weeks earlier than normal for here.

I'm bringing the tropical trees back in tonight. Did I mention the dance started?

It was 27f and snowing here this morning *sigh*... Everything is mulched in and protected from the wind. On the bright side I found a mover that does move plants so one less thing to worry about on Dec 19th when we move

I built this to take my monster yaupon hollies in and out of the garage this winter....I have already had to get bigger casters....The one's on it here just were not strong enough.

Aside form getting stronger casters...bigger ones also help you navigate uneven ground better.

Nice back saving device. :)
