Looking for resolution to fairly young Podocarpus turning brown. Planted 3 months ago, careful with watering, used slow release fert when planted, some are turning brown quickly. I'm in Landscape zone 9B - Central Florida.
We used a large amount of soil amendment when planted so they are not just in sand. We have a drip line watering, after hand watering for the first two weeks. Our moisture control meter runs at around a 7 currently with all the rain BUT we have been at high 90's with heavy heat index for many weeks. We water only in early morning. Too many articles say over or underwatering. Does anyone have specific calculation of what the moisture should be at or something we can add that would help save these young plants? Many thanks!Podocarpus hedge brown 2.jpgPodocarpus hedge brown 1.jpg

I have the same problem with my podocarpus (kind of) when the leaves keep yellowing and then drop, but no decisive clues were to be found. Really hard to tell why it's so upset. Since then some branches have been thinned out considerably and look so leggy.
