I picked up a couple of seedlings on the banks of a mountain stream in "Massif Central" many years ago.

Doing fine. Waiting to be repotted in mid-February some time...

I have a Tri-color European Beech growing in my yard, I live in Utah and it is very dry and hot in the summer and very cold in the winter.
It seems to be doing good thus far, it has been in the ground for a couple of years.
I'm hoping to try and get a start from it for a bonsai.

You have managed to keep the tree alive and transform it in an elegant way.
I might say I agree with you regarding a more rounded canopy, it would look much more natural.
Beech and Larch are favourites of mine but unfortunately they cannot grow where I live.

Really like this one Alain! I'm a big fan of European Beech and living in Northern England, it's one that grows quite well. I've been growing one on similar lines to yours - I wanted to see what was possible for me without trunk chopping - I've got another tree that I'm doing that too.

Here's mine - long way to go to get to your standards; will be going into a grow box soon.
