I got some fagus crenata seeds recently and wanted to ask if there's some expert here on how to prioperly treat them over winter and pre sowing next spring. I have some experience with maple seeds but zero with fagus. Any tips are appreciated.

Wash them with hydrogen peroxide and plant them outdoors where they'll experience winter temperatures. A refrigerator will work if your climate is too warm for stratification.

Thanks for the reply. Some years ago I messed around with juniper riigida seeds and the seeds vendor also suggested the hydrogen peroxide. In your experience, is it recommendable for all seeds or just the hard shell ones?

I use peroxide on everything. 24 hour soak in warm tapwater with a tablespoon of 3% h2o2 does the job. If you have hard shelled material, add 1-3 drops of liquid dishwashing detergent per cup.
It helps with water penetration because it breaks surface tension.

That is basically my go to recipe, if that don't work but it almost always does, I need literature.
