December ‘21 removed middle trunks.
January ‘22 repotted into smaller plastic container. By April ‘22 things were looking good.

Tree responded well. Here it is the following May. Substrate is 80:20 pumice:bark

Reduced bud clusters/small branch junctions from 3 to 2 in some places
Repot into shallow, glazed, dark blue container. It will contrast the red foliage in Fall.
Some light wiring. .

Substrate is 50/50 Douglas-fir bark and pumice. 1 cm layer of bark added to surface for moisture retention.

Branch selection/reduction.
Mostly focused on reducing proportionally long/thick/straight branches and removing long-internode sections. Singular terminal buds at branch tips were removed.
