Well...I haven t been recording videos for some time now...I was at one moment fed up with that. I was spending too much time with the laptop editing and publishing...but now I think I am ready for some more. All the things that you do with too much intensity for quite a long time must tire you once...I believe...so a nice pause is a good thing. Makes you want that again :)
I am planing a new series with Walter soon.

I defoliate every other year...if tree is crazy vigorous and usualy that is the case I do it every year.
Results are stuning.
First...you have in the middle of season a tree with winter silhouette and that can be shown and enjoyed and photographed...second...you can edit branches and do the thining and some fine wiring which is only impossible while the leaves are on the tree cause those are so dense.
Of course...I was doing partial defoliation also..in both forms...removing some leaves in just too dense areas ...and/or cutting two thirds of each leaf on a whole tree. And combinations of all those technics.
Just want to say that the tree responds fantasticly to defoliation and usually as short as in a week time you can see new shoots emerging from all over the tree. Then you can pluck them off with fingers.
It s a crazy strong beast that hedera species.

The summer period will be here in a couple of months and you have convinced me to defoliate this bonsai. It does need some pruning so I will take the opportunity to do that at the same time. I will post a photo when it is leafless.
