Collected this tree Father’s Day 23’

It had a potentilla growing at the base that I initially thought I’d keep and make interesting as a tree/plant combo. In my desire to continue to cut it back it ended up dead. All good as this tree stayed healthy and hummed along!

I styled it this last fall and planted it into its first container/rock this spring. Found this rock on a hike last fall.

Great healthy great growth with the exception of one branch. It’s an odd tree that in my opinion demanded the secondary trunk from branch. It was either cut that thick branch off or embrace its growth style.

I’m a fan. Excited to see where it goes long term!!

Nice work. I like the reiteration on the left.

Many old conifers out here develop additional trunks from their branches so the feature is accurate. It’s nice to see it in a bonsai.

Totally agree. Even if I wanted to bring that branch down I couldn’t! It had already taken that shape.

I like it Danny and agree with Alan. The jin shows where the tree suffered some trauma and created new trunklines: the second trunk and the main apex. Nice work.

Cool tree and nice styling. Love that first bend in the trunk.
