E.L.L introduction and general updates

3rd of November I collected a seedcone of a Pinus armandii while a brief visit to a pinetum.

Despite telling myself I have no room to germinate seeds for 2026, when seeing the seeds drop out I decided to plant them.

Planted 60 of 63 seeds. Planted in a seed tray with reused kaizen #3.
Will leave outside over winter and fingers crossed something will happen in spring.

Due to their needle length I'm unsure if they will be any use for "typical" highly ramified and structured bonsai but I do imagine a tall slender tree with mature bark, some interesting exposed roots and sparse long drooping foliage.

I've been using my larches and douglas fir as living twigs to practice wiring on. I've used aluminum in the past but recently picked up some copper.
Some what finished wiring them today, and decided to try aim for some better photographs which I'll post below.

We had an uncommon strong wind from the south east yesterday, combined with heavy rain all day. Had to put down all the larger trees down on the ground. Nice for everything to get a good soaking. Cleans away the buildup of city dust and grime from the walls and floors.

Now today some rare sun!
Other than a cold spell end of December, temperatures seem to be generally straddling 5°c. It seems like my Sequoia sempervirens seedlings are growing too. Probably not great for them in the long run, but at this point anything that dies gets replaced with pines 🤭
