Picked this up like 6 months ago for 30$. It’s about 5-6inches tall up to the beginning of the tallest leader. Trunks weren’t that interesting to begin with but looked like a fun experiment.

Slope cut the thinner one to be smaller and off set. Did the same for the thicker main trunk however the new leader is not growing how I thought it would. It’s just growing over all the other branches I cut away so there is some bulging/ inverse taper going on now.

Wondering if I should restart the main trunk by cutting clear below that bulge or leave as is.

Growth after a cutback is always unpredictable.

Looking at the images, it seems one might be better off recutting down lower.

Best to just do a straight chop below the inverse taper and make a shorter trunk? Or just make a deeper slope cut?

We just cut them across. Less surface area wounded. One can always go back after things stabilize and grow out.

Cheers
