I collected this forest of parsley hawthorn (Crataegus marshallii) a couple of weeks ago from our family property. The particular grove of these trees is interesting because they have been trimmed repeatedly over the years by the tractor. The only issue is that they typically do not have many feeder roots.

This particular group was planted in a cedar grow box in the exact positioning in which they were found in nature. There are probably 30 or 40 more of these in a 20'x20' area. I liked the heavy ramification on them and the tiny thorns so decided to keep most, but not all of the branching.

I will let them recover this year and next year further refine the branching and do some wiring. Not much wiring is needed on these as the branches tend to grow horizontal rather upwards. I am confident these smaller ones will survive as I was able to get most of the roots.

This will be the progression thread for this forest.
