Hey there guys it's been a while since I've been on Bonsai Nut but I thought I'd give you guys a little update on a plant I've disussed before when I didn't know what to do with it. The link for which can be found here
Unfortunately I don't have any of the pictures for this plant between the time of my first post and now. Wish I still did because it grew a sizable amount in about a year and a half. But this time around I figured I'd track it's progress publicly. So much has happened between then and now, so here it is
If you couldn't tell already it's missing it's other half, and is surprisingly woody for it's age. During the summer i started to pay attention to this plant again and began wracking my brain for a way to get to look more like a tree(which was hard because of it's growth pattern) I was stumped for days until it was finally reduced to nubs. I wasn't the one who cut it back however, my cat had decided to spare me the frustration and knock it down from where it was outside. The plant was wrecked, and I was surprised the pot didn't Crack more than it did. But things happen, so now that it's winter I'm letting it sit on the back burner and recover. Anyways definitely let me know what you guys think and watch out for this summer!
I have a jade plant that I would like to convert to a bonsai tree, I am torn between two styles, informal upright, or twin trunk. The plant does not seem to respond well when I prune younger green parts. I will need your guy's help with deciding on what to do as far as styling goes. I am even open to just letting it grow for now, if that is what it takes for the plant to be successful. Before I posted this I was intending for the plant to be informal upright, but now I'm not sure of my decision. We have freezing winters where I live and the plant stays outside during the late spring and...
