This is my corkbark elm after its first year in its new pot. The tree will be shortened by about 4 inches next spring - can you see where the new tiny leader is ? All the branches will be cut back severely as they were allowed to grow this year to build some bulk. I tried to get a pic of the very nice base (thank you Chris and Telperion Farms !) The pot is already darkening up nicely, picking up some yellow and brown tones. It already is makes a nice winter image but next spring I will get all those branches in order as the tree should be ready to take off. It sulked a little after repotting and also suffered a massive attack of Japanese beetle so growth was a bit slow.

Such a nice tree. Looking good in it's winter clothes, or lack thereof. I know you just got started with this one, and not that you asked, but I would simplify that lower left trunk a bit. It seems like too much going on. (teensy quibble.)
Great pot choice.

The sub trunk will be shortened too. I might take off the lowest branch on it. Glad you like the pot, I put this tree in about five different pots to see how it looked when I repotted.
