Just making this thread to update the progression of this Contorted Hazel, bought from the reduced section of a garden centre.

This is its current state with no work been carried out.

Since purchasing this tree it has been repotted last spring into a large flat container reducing the roots significantly but not pruning the top at all. Last years growth wasn’t anything spectacular but I knew the roots had filled the container by the end of the growing season.

Repotted today and went for a harsh prune to get this tree on its way. Pruned back some larger roots as fine roots were in such abundance. This year should see improvements on the top as well as the nebari.

Looks healthy - I have one of these and can’t seem to get good growth on it. How much sun do you give yours?

Looking good!

Mine seems to burn if it gets direct sun and then it doesn’t grow much in the shade. Maybe this year ill find the sweet spot :)

My leaves were a little burnt last year too still trying to work out how’s best to treat this species. I’ll see how it reacts after this hard prune, and document back.
