I've wanted to try a concrete pot for awhile and took advantage of a few free hours yesterday. I followed this general plan.

I have learned a great deal from others about concrete and I felt it would be a good thing to 'pay it forward' by sharing some of what I have learned.

Keep it wrapped in plastic for 48 hours to a week. That way the surface won't dry out. Less dusting, crumbling of surface finish that way.

FYI, a modest Leo knows concrete as well as plants.

Real nice! Did the exterior take on the imprint of the lolly sticks well?

Pretty well. The only bummer is the amount of cracks I had along the outside edges.


I plan to repair these sections ... or maybe I just leave them in disrepair, especially since I plan to put a weathered old (looking) oak in there.

It'll look like it's growing out of a bombed out building, maybe rough it up some more, take a few swipes across it with a pressure washer

Yeah, maybe I’ll just embrace the imperfections after all. It would probably be weird looking if everything was perfect anyway.
