My collected live oak has just one healthy bud under a branch. That branch is not showing any sign . Should I just chop it and allow the bud to be the apex?

But but but, if you are peeing in the back yard, shooting for the moon simply gets you wet. I would prefer a small target far down range.

$7K does not go very far with certain bonsai masters in the US. It's not astronomical. As a matter of fact, it may not get free shipping

Way out of my league! I'm in the poor boy bonsai bracket. $75-$100 for nursery stock if it's something I really want and can make it up with parts to sell. Bought a Paul's Scarlett Hawthorne last year at Forestfarm for $75, but usually I go for the $45-$50 sizes. I've never bought a bonsai, no wait, yes I did! I bought a cute little Blue Atlas cedar from Vicki Chamberlain in one of her little pots for $20 at our bonsai swap meet last year. I just had to have it, but it was my first time. If they don't hurry up and get into the trap to be relocated, I might have to take my cast net to the backyard. I've done that successfully many times in the past. One way or the other they will be caught.

Well. We have a living water sprout. No sign on the big tree. It has been under stress for years.I figure I will keep all my collected live oak here until they earn their own thread.
