My collected live oak has just one healthy bud under a branch. That branch is not showing any sign . Should I just chop it and allow the bud to be the apex?

$7K does not go very far with certain bonsai masters in the US. It's not astronomical. As a matter of fact, it may not get free shipping :D
Way out of my league! I'm in the poor boy bonsai bracket. $75-$100 for nursery stock if it's something I really want and can make it up with parts to sell. Bought a Paul's Scarlett Hawthorne last year at Forestfarm for $75, but usually I go for the $45-$50 sizes. I've never bought a bonsai, no wait, yes I did! I bought a cute little Blue Atlas cedar from Vicki Chamberlain in one of her little pots for $20 at our bonsai swap meet last year. I just had to have it, but it was my first time. I'll never forget it.

This one's only $20 K pick up in La. only

They still haven't sold that hedge?

i think this is a different one? Anyway the topiary style hasn't changed if it is either.
Nah, pretty sure it's the same one you posted a while back, I just think it looks like it came from a hedge

I figure I will keep all my collected live oak here until they earn their own thread.

Wabbits all the shoots of a couple live oaks. Grrrr🤬. The others are doing well.

Well. We have a living water sprout. No sign on the big tree. It has been under stress for years.IMG_2374.jpeg
