I have been in a unique situation for collecting some awesome material. Just figured out how to get some pics off my phone. Sorry they are side ways etc. Haven't figured how to get them rotated.
This specimen was growing/falling out of a roadbank. Has been brush hogged off for years, they do this to keep the roadways open for the log trucks etc.. This tree was in shale with most of the trunk buried from slides.
Everything I collect I have been planting directly into bags or pots in native forest duff and decomposed logs/stumps, which most are found growing in.
I know it's not 'turface' but they have been thriving in it for years, shallow, radial roots etc.
I am on equipment watch in the SW Oregon coast range and have been collecting some awesome material (mostly mountain hemlock).
I will be posting a few more when I get down the mountain (they are at home now) and get some pics.
