The complete story of this tree and its history can be read on our blog here

A few days ago, as spring was getting all sprung, this guy started to leaf out. It comes out a little later than its Asian counter parts but that blue green foliage is so very much worth the wait. I took the next step in wiring this tree and placed some more of the large foliage areas while reducing some of the unneeded extensions as well. I've been back and forth on which side I like the best, but for now this is the front. I will be removing the left section of the tree sometime this year, it however is currently being left on to encourage a little more strength in the tree. This winter will see the fine wiring and next step to that final refined image.

The tree is not complete of course but its coming along nicely, I think.

Larch after three years of patient slow work. Left side will probably be removed.

As always comments, questions and discussion are always welcome and encouraged.

This looks really nice. I think you're right, with that left removed, it'll look even nicer :)

Great tree! I'm excited to see what you end up with. Will you completely remove the left side or leave some jin?

This is an interesting tree... I keep wanting to pick it up and turn it to see what the other angles look like... I do love the jin shape.

The more I look at the tree the less I think I need to wait to remove the left side....

@Dan -- Yes I will leave a jin that's rule #1 :)

@Judy -- Always wanting the trees to pirouette :p ..... I should see if we can get this guy on a turn table.... jin took a few hours to create and was a lot of fun... I will probably work the jin on the Jap larch in a similar fashion

Cool jin work Ang3lfir3, you must know a good wood carver:p I could stand to see the left side go.

Great tree! Great jin work! Great blog! Kudos on all three.

@Bill S -- Yeah I musta learned from some guy who knows a thing or two :p :p :)

@Will -- Thank you kind sir!!! I appreciate it very much :) !!
