I live in Southern NJ and any bonsai classes near me seem to be for complete newbies that offer "make your own tropical bonsai" which usually consists of poor material stuffed into a 6" pot over 2 hours for $150. I've been growing/killing pre-bonsai for 3 years and seem to have gotten the hang of keeping trees healthy through hot/cold temps, repotting, wiring, and pruning, and would love to get some hands on instruction on my stuff that is ready for the next step. Would Chase Rosade be an option or does he only work with more experienced people? Would a club near Philly (PA Bonsai Society?) be a better option?
