I had Chuck Iker make me a pot, with the intentions
of painting it... for a project tree I am working on.

The tree reminds me of one of the old junipers one
might see in the high deserts of New Mexico, Arizona...
The four corner regions...
So, I decided I wanted a pot for it that reminds me of
the pots that the Hopi Indians are known for making.

So, above is the pot I had commisioned Chuck to make
for me...

And the following pics are what it looks like now. The
pot was unglazed with an iron oxide finish on the top.

Nice pot, please post a pic with the new tree in it someday! Never seen a bonsai pot like this quite unique. Did you have to fire it again, or will the overpainting fade and then you'll do it again?

Thanks for the reply...

I will be sure and post some pics when I put my tree in it...
It was either go through and wire the tree, or re-pot and I felt
it was more important to go through and wire, so I put the pot on
hold for the moment, not wanting to over stress the tree.

Which leads to the second part of your question... No, it is an oil
based paint, no need to re-fire... It will fade over time, but in this
case will only add to the design, seeing that it will only become
that much more belieable...
:)

I can picture your tree in a show with maybe a little cactus kusamono alongside. :)
thanks for sharing, kudos to the pot maker, clean and nice :)
