Pictured here is my Chojubai Red flowering quince. I bought this from Don Blackmond in late April. I took this picture on the last day of August. There are very red flowers in the foliage.

This tree is under development and will be for quite awhile. The exposed root portion of the chojubai is all new. The tree is now 6.5" tall, but when I acquired it, it was 5.75" in height. Often people say chojubai grow very slowly, but when a tree 5.75" tall adds .75", you notice it.

The pot is a used one I bought on eBay. It is by Satomi Terahata. It has a thick, yellow crackle glaze The pot is 5 11/16” across by 5” wide by 2 7/16” deep.

I'm looking forward to more flowers in November and through the winter.

Here we are in February, and my chojubai red has been slowly cranking out the flowers. This picture is actually of the back, but the flowers can be seen better.
These flowers are mostly played, but I thought the image was interesting.post chojubai red 2-28-15.jpg

One of these days, I'll join with you on the red chojubai journey. I'm growing to love Japanese quince. When my quince are further along, I'll enjoy collecting pretty pots also.

This is great! I just bought a red chojubai, and I'm already daydreaming about it being potted nicely, so this gives me some inspiration!
