I purchased two seedling Chinese Hackberry this spring and had them in the garage in from of a south window until things warmed up. They did a lot of growing and were healthy. I put them outside and adjusted them to gradually get them used to the sun. Now I have this mess. Any idea what this means and how to correct? thanks for help

I know someone out there has the answer to what and why these leaves are discolored. I'll give you a donut if you respond...please.

Looks like sunburn to me, but I'll let the veterans chime in.

My experience with these is that they are late to leaf out. How early in the spring did you get them and from where did they ship? I assume they were already in leaf?

With most of my plants, be it vegetables or trees, all leaves grown inside tend to burn a little when taken outside. Usually all plants recover, some shed a few leaves and regrow. If nothing else is wrong (water etc), I would not worry too much.

Next year's leaves are going to be beautiful :)

Leaf bound is always a possibility, but the damage looks rather inconsistent. Best luck.

I can't remember where I purchased them from, one of the online guys that sends out notices with what he has for sale. Purchased in early spring. There were bare root and not in leaf as yet, but really went to town in the garage. I did pop the pots and looked at roots and they look wonderful so no problems there. Sounds like me with little patience will just have to be patient. What about removing damaged leaves and expecting back budding?

Not sure why I continually go through this every year. Buy something on-line that will grow in my zone, get it going in the garage and then put it outside after last freezes protected from sun, and downhill it goes.

Thanks all for help and encouragement!
