Chestnut re-pot timing?

Hi I have a Horse Chestnut I want to bare root and re-pot, the buds have just started to open and I am wondering if it is too late? The pics below show what state it is in, could I have some educated opinions.
Lower left in the second pic the bud is opening.

I did mine in late winter, early spring. A month ago, more or less.
I think yours are a bit further along, but still in the clear I think.
