Hello,
I ordered what I thought was Kan Toyo from Evergreen Gardenworks. I am now reading that these have thorns- mine has no thorns.
I may have wait until this one blooms to find out what I have.
I just got a Toyo Nishiki and I don’t think I am going to like the thorns.
Any one have a Kan Toyo to confirm for me?

I think that you will see that the thorns are associated with a distinctive leaf. But, no matter, you can carefully cut the thorns off before you wantonly plunge your hands into the maze of stems to do styling, so to speak. I've been playing with Toyo Nishiki for more than a decade - no transfusions have been necessary (my pruners are far more dangerous! 🤣 ).

btw, take up roses (like rugosa, gymnocarpa, even tea roses) if you want to complain about thorns ;)
